We’ve made it to the final day of our Croatia trip! We moved to a different hotel once Alex’s work stuff was over (thank you, Hilton points!)
The day started out very rainy, just like the day before.
Luckily, one of the Lonely Planet recommended attractions that I hadn’t seen yet was indoor: The Old Pharmacy at the Franciscan Monastery. It’s exactly what it sounds like—a pharmacy founded by Franciscan friars, located right inside what was once a monastery. It’s one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe (founded in 1317!) and is still in operation! It was a lovely place to explore!
Unfortunately, part of the museum was closed for a private event, so our visit was fairly brief.
We enjoyed a stroll through the Ethnographic Museum. Lots of interesting artifacts illuminating the traditional Croatia culture.
The traditional clothes were my favorite part. The souvenir I chose for myself was a necklace modeled after these buttons.
We stumbled upon some open shops and did some browsing. This was actually a welcome surprise, because we were counting on this trip being our chance to come up with some unique Christmas gifts and were underwhelmed at how few shopping opportunities there were. (Quite the contrast from Morocco the previous year!) I assume it was partly because it was “off season” for tourism in Croatia.

The sun finally came out!
It was good timing for an al fresco lunch at Gradska Kavada Arsenal. It was all yummy, and my pregnant self was a fan of the mocktail menu. ;)
Ironically enough, though, we were headed for another indoor activity: the aquarium.
The combination of modern technology and ancient architecture was a fascinating setting for the vast array of sea life on display.
We enjoyed our final Croatian dinner just outside the walls of the old city at Posat. The food, service, and company were all excellent!

I knew this would be my last international trip for a while since Jonas would be born four months later, but clearly I did NOT know the extent of how long my (everyone’s) travels would be put on hold. I hope we’re planning for another international adventure in the not-too-distant future. :)
