Mardi Gras Throwback

Happy Mardi Gras, friends! With this post, I'm finally setting something right that's been bugging me for a while. I love taking photos of Carnival Season festivities, but (as you've probably noticed), it takes me awhile to get around to culling/editing/organizing my photos, so by the time I share them, they are a bit "out of season," if you will. It's one thing to blog about Christmas time in January, but sharing images of Mardi Gras frivolity during Lent just seems so wrong that I can't bring myself to do it. Which is why there have been no Mardi Gras photos on this blog since... 2013! That's right--I have some serious catching up to do. I actually planned to share photos from Mardi Gras 2014 and 2015 this time LAST year, but I ended up with a stomach bug while taking care of six-month old Afton alone while Alex was out of town and daycare was closed. Let's just say the good times weren't exactly rolling for Mardi Gras 2016, so I'm throwing it way back for today's post! Our 2014 celebrating started on Thursday night in New Orleans, with the Muses parade.

Lucy and Tom joined us Friday for lots of daytime fun...

...and we had a great spot on Canal Street for the nighttime parades: Hermes, D'Etat, and Morpheus.

Alex and I stuck around NOLA for Iris, Tucks, and Endymion!

Fast forward to only two years ago, ha! My parents joined us for their first New Orleans Mardi Gras experience, which began with a delicious dinner at Mr. B's

We had bleacher seats for the parades afterward, which was well worth it!

We enjoyed a leisurely brunch at Café Soulé and some casual strolling during the day...

...and ended our celebration (once again) with Endymion!
