Allie's Senior Portraits

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of spending the evening with an outstanding member of the Ocean Springs High School Class of 2017. Allie is kind, talented, and wise beyond her years, and she exudes joy that is truly contagious. I was honored when she chose me to capture her senior portraits, and I enjoyed every moment of her session.

See what I mean? You can't even look at her without smiling, am I right?!

I loved that Allie wanted to take photos on the beautiful grounds of our church, and it was particularly special for her to pose on this bench dedicated to the memory of her grandfather, whose legacy is powerfully felt all over our community (and beyond.)

Our beloved First Pres is one of my favorites places to shoot, and it never gets old no matter how many times I do it.

Hanging out with this photogenic senior made me see the beauty of this place in a whole new way!

How about a fun wardrobe change?

The October light shining through the tree branches was the perfect complement to Allie's natural glow.

Every First Pres kid grows up playing on this live oak branch, so it seemed only right that it be featured in her photos.

Allie's mom was the perfect assistant throughout our session. When I mentioned that it might be fun to add some goldenrod to Allie's portraits, she did not hesitate to climb right into the thicket and pick this lovely bouquet for us. Thanks, mom! :)

We had one even more important prop, though: Allie's clarinet! She has been making music with this instrument since middle school and is an integral part of the award-winning OSHS marching band. Her skills are impressive, I must say!

To switch things up, we headed to the Ocean Springs Harbor. Our intent was to go straight to the dock, but when Allie directed my attention to the contrast of the shadowy live oaks against the bright light on the horizon, I knew some silhouettes were in order. We had so much fun with these!

The light was wonderfully golden when we got to the dock.

The nautical stripes on her dress were so apropos, and how adorable is that little monogram?!

Allie's family is good friends with the owners of one of the beautiful sailboats that is docked in the harbor, and they were kind enough to give us permission to climb aboard! Doesn't she look like she's about to sail into a bright future? ;)

Truly, I have no doubt that this young woman is destined for greatness. She's already more inspiring than she knows, and she hasn't even graduated yet!

Congratulations, Allie!
