Carolyn & Matt's Wedding Weekend, Part 1: Rehearsal Dinner & Private Ceremony

I had the pleasure of photographing a fabulous wedding a couple weeks back, and I’m going to deliver more photos to this bride & groom than I ever have. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Carolyn & Matt are family, but it’s mostly because they didn’t have an ordinary wedding… they planned an EPIC weekend full of summer camp fun! Their wedding day will be on the blog soon, but today I’m talking about their rehearsal dinner the evening before.

All the festivities took place at Clemson Outdoor Lab, which is home to summer camps where Carolyn worked for several years. It’s like a second home to her, and she always dreamed of getting married at camp.

Family and friends gathered around the pavilion while the rehearsal was going on. Of course a few of them (mostly my child!) couldn’t resist splashing in the creek.

Some friendly corn hole games were being played too. The bride and groom painted all these boards themselves!

Like I said, a camp wedding was always Carolyn’s dream, but Matt had had a different vision, imagining himself getting married on a beach with only six people present. Carolyn and Matt had written their own vows to exchange privately, but Carolyn surprised Matt with this intimate ceremony by the lake with, yes, just six people (including Rev. Heath Mullikin and me). Dreams coming true all around!

DIY decorations had the pavilion looking lovely.

But one more important photoshoot had to happen before dinner. It’s not often that all ELEVEN of Carolyn’s nieces and nephews are together in one place! This rarity was definitely worth documenting, and these “Cousins Makes the Best Friends” T-shirts* were perfect for the occasion.

Time to chow down!

And maybe color a little while you’re at it. ;)

The yummy desserts were my favorite part! :)

All this sweetness was just a foretaste of the celebration that came the next day… that’s coming up in my next post! :)
